Description

Once upon a time ... there was a king, the king Bodawpaya ( Ok, these Burmese kings have impossible manes, but it's not my fault ...) who lived in the early 19 th century. He decided to build the largest building in the world. The Kings did not have much to do, and spent their time inventing this kind of thing. Mostly because is the others who worked, , they only drew up the plans. The gigantic edifice rising, rising ... Until that the king die in 1819, and a terrible earthquake compromise the structure of building in 1838. It led to a slot which condemned the building forever. The people say that the king has been condemned by his lack of modesty. I am not responsible for the veracity of Burmese legends. First they are terribly complicated and anyway I can not verify. You believe it or not, but the building is there, in Mingun. The slot also. And they are enormous, both.

Fabulous picture! It does remind me of Petra...Looks like it was carved into the mountain as opposed to being built. Love the story about it :D
