Description

It's one of the most holy places of all Burma. All Burmese dream to make this pilgrimage once in a lifetime. A single hair of Buddha is stronger than the law of gravity – all people tell you. The huge rock, against all odds, was hanged at the edge of the precipice, tilted as if going to fall. "It don’t fall just because there was a hair of Buddha! "Like everything that is sacred, people covered the rock with gold leafs. You asked how. But there is not a single millimeter of the Rock that is not covered with gold. The Golden Rock is a lost corner of Burma. In the middle of the jungle. At the center of nowhere. I put several years and several trips to decide. I go or not? One day for travel, one for the return. If all goes well ... During the monsoon, you can forget it. In addition, before the latter part of the journey is made exclusively in trucks where go hundreds of peoples. The last part is a climb on foot. Or chair porters. I swear, a bamboo chair with four porters who climb you to high. Before, the people made in elephants. .

Cars asking me a fortune to make a travel full of uncertainties. With luck and good karma, it would take two days. But there was worse. I asked the few people I met who stay there, if the effort is justificate. Many told me: 'You know, this is only a stone. " Hard, hard ... How do I know? But my intuition told me to go and risk. My best friend in Burma, a old man over 70 years with whom I spent days chatting, spoke about like one of the most fabulous places in the world. And a Buddhist pilgrimage that everything should be done. At my hotel I Rangoon- I stay always in the same - people know me and found me a car with a driver for their confidence for 1/5 of the price asked to tourists. It was a sign. I must go! But ... if it was only a big stone?

What a huge rock, just teetering there in danger of falling at any moment, with a healthy coat of gold to enhance its beauty! Great clarity, color, POV and lighting effects in this shot! You must really have it knocked or are a travel agent to be able to constantly travel to these exotic spots, M! Probably have racked up a ton of frequent flyer miles in your odyssey to see the world. Incidentally, Burma is no longer called Burma. It's now Myanmar.

Our state capital has a gold roof. People have found flakes of gold in the gutter drains. This rock looks like it's going to go... I can see a swarm of people trying to peel the gold off of it when it falls. It's funny what man covers in gold. Great picture.
