A Dutch good friend introduced me to R'osity... and now, I really feel good in this community : I enjoy a lot your friendship and comments !BIOWith a few exceptions (indicated), I'm using a simple CANON Digital IXUS i... Sometimes, I do some postwork using ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5, but I just installed Adobe PhotoShop 7.0...
But now, after having seen all these beautiful shots, I just bought (Nov 2004) myself a new camera : NIKON 70 D !
I'm a chemist, leading a small R&D team in polymers (My greatest pleasure is to stimulate creativity...) I'm also studying to become a patent attorney...
I'm living in Belgium and enjoy travelling, hiking (going out every week-end is a vital must !), reading (my French preferred authors are Marc Ly, Jean-Christophe Grang Amie Nothomb,...), music (great fan of US female voices : Jennifer Warnes, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, ...) and ... photography ! :~)
Bien cordialement aussi aux amis francophones !

A nice picture and a very informative message. Only people that live in arid climates will really understand of what you are talking about. I worked for the Arizona Depatmant of Water Resources and am familiar with both surface and ground water laws. The cure-all in the American Southwest is the Colorado River. Every drop of the water that flows in that river is spoken for. The compact on which the water allocations for the 7 basin states are based, was drawn up in 1923, and the allocations were based on a ten-year monitoring period 1910-19. Much later it was realized that that particular period was during a wet cycle. The pan evaporation rate in Phoenix is 99-inches, average annual rainfall is about 7-inches (30-year average). This year we had so far 2.62-inches since the beginning of the year. Yet developers and builders keep on building like there is no tomorrow. Potential costumers are told that water is 'no problem'. Laws pertaining to water use are usually are not enforced, or challenged in court as soon as an Agency is making a ruling adverse to developers.
