Description
At 16:78 WLT (Western Lunar Time) archaeologists activated one of the devices, currently known as Gillespie Rods, after Dr. Gillian Gillespie who headed the team that discovered them. When the plate switch was pressed there was a soft hissing noise and the unmistakable smell of ozone permeated the room. Initially only a faint glow at the tips of the device was noted. Over the next 10 minutes a glowing plasma ball developed and grew until it filled the head of the rod. Composition of the energy is still under investigation. No other effect was noted by the team, after 10 hours the device was deactivated. Perhaps only a coincidence, an orbiting lunar observer that was imaging graviton emotions from a distant black hole had all of its images during the ten hour window blacked out.

The addition of the story in the comments was a nice touch. I like the glowing effect of the plasma ball.
