Description

Hi, as always, thanks for looking! This by way of a big experiment... I almost decided not to post it. The lighting is a hybrid - Dreamlight's LDP skydome, combined with Pendragon's environment light using a forest panorama IBL created in Vue. The sunlight is an UberSpot with a leaf gel that I created in photoshop. Seperate passes were rendered for the IBL ambient, the skydome (a 36 hour affair), the sunlight, a reflection pass for the environment and an ambient occlusion pass using PWSurface (another 36 hour slog). Everything was composited in Photoshop. I used the 'Luce' plugin to do some sunbeam effects and rendered a Mood Master atmospheric pass as well. Darn near everything but the kitchen sink. After I got everything mixed and colored I noticed a lot of ivy leaves half imbedded in the masonry. These had to be painted over in photoshop using the clone brush, as did some rendering artifacts on the fountain. I wasn't happy with the hair so I had several rounds of postwork to try to improve that as well. So, a learning experience. I sometimes find that the more effort I put into a piece the less satisfied I am with it.... Credits: DAZ Victoria 4 with creature morphs. 'Rachel' morph By Thornworks, a pose from DM's 'Land of Sorrow,' Outfit is 'the Destroyer' from DAZ, Sword from DAZ's 'High Fantasy Project'. Hair is Shee Kiira by Aery Soul Texture is from Aery Soul's Alice. Fountian is a DAZ freebie. Ivy by 'The Ivy Generator.' Constructive criticism especially appreciated in this case - what works? What doesn't? A simple "I like it" or "boy did you waste a lot of time" is fine too. I really do appreciate all of your comments, but ratings have been disabled. Apologies for any inconvenience this causes. EDIT: I inadvertantly misatributed the texture in my initial post - it's actually Alice from Aery Soul. Apologies to both Danie and As Shanim for the error.

Wow that lighting is amazing! I think you are on to something big so keep tinkering! this is a great scene, I am glad you posted it! As far as alot of work and becoming less satisfied, I agree with you I just tossed a piece myself that I have put over 20 hours on, but learned some new tricks making it! then sometimes I make something amzing in 15 minutes just playing around.

By some reasons everything is looking natural except of face. Might be because it (and hair) has no leaf shadows, a highlights and hair look dimmer that everything around. Also, some ivy leaves at the top right corner (second from the edge)... I almost expect them be in the shade as well. I know that lighting can do different tricks like that and still be natural but for me it is like this. Thank you for the work, and I appreciate that you shared it and notes about it.

I love this image. No matter if the shadows are perfect or not, no matter if some effects could be improved (thing that I definately cannot imagine how to do :) because for me all looks perfect...) No matter nothing, I love this image and think that your long hours of work gave us, with no doubt, a masterpiece... thanks for sharing it!!!! fabi FKDesign

I wouldn't suggest anything on this one. Any changes would be merely subjective, and should be at your own discretion. Beautiful piece.

Constructive criticism? Hehe, I'm not qualified for that in this case. I do believe I might be viewing perfection...

Wonderful shadows! I was complaining about the overnight render for my Sleigh Ride, and here you did TWO 36 hr renders, in addition to everything else! Excellent results :)
