Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image. I spent some time today looking through the goldenrod blooms for little critters. Goldenrod is an amazing place for finding a wide variety of insect life but today I had no real success. Therefore I went wandering elsewhere and managed to get a number of good pics of various subjects. The first of these is my posting for today. I saw this Anole lizard stalking a grasshopper and I was patient until he caught him. I waited for a moment or two before approaching close enough to get this shot then my nearness startled the lizard. He dropped the half crunched prey and moved away, but not very far. I picked up the grasshopper and on a whim, I held it out towards the lizard. Much to my delight, he immediately darted out from hiding and grabbed the returned meal right out of my fingers, lol. Tomorrows posting will show the next shot of this lizard and the twice unfortunate grasshopper. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Poor thing looks as if he was in need of a good meal. Cool shot. I've seen them eat worms but not grasshoppers before. Outstanding. Can't wait to see the rest.

Quote "Much to my delight, he immediately darted out from hiding and grabbed the returned meal right out of my fingers, lol." (end quote). I note that you say 'much to your delight' if this had been me I would have said 'much to my suprise'. I have said it before Lee, you are at one with nature and I would not be in the least suprised, if that little critter had stood on your hand to finish it's meal. I think the critters in your area sense that you have no animosity towards them so you are not a threat. Magnificent capture, I wait with eager anticipation for your next upload. Bravo!!!!!
