Description

I just can't seem to resist playing with rocks. I was grilling (again, this does seem to be a theme for me...) and while waiting for the charcoal to get going I started playing around. Much later I decided to play with the flash on my camera, just to see what would happen. I mostly discovered how hard it is to aim in very little light, but I also got some interesting shots before I also discovered that using the flash is murder on your battery. Someday I should get back to doing SciFi stuff, but I'm just having too much fun before it gets too cold to handle rocks! Thanks for taking a look, and comments are especially welcome as I'm still learning how to use my new Nikon.

WOW...this is a vivid and striking capture! Fantastic work, both with the rock balancing AND the photography. I love the colors brought out here, and the vaguely human shapes that are apparent. Nicely eerie in a way as well...deliciously so! Great work, and as for playing around with your new camera, keep doing that...the best stuff always comes out when you're going: "Hmmm...what'll happen if I change THIS setting?" Or something like that. Great post of outstanding quality here! I love it.

Cool! This looks really neat at night...The flash brings out the colors of the rocks and adds a great depth of field :D

Nice composition, must have taken you ages to balance some of those stones, there are a few that seem to be defying gravity :)
