Description
I understand ants grow wings when they leave the nest to start a new colony. Each winged ant has the prospect of being a queen ant for breeding.

This is a gorgeous macro! Wonderful detail, especially of the hairs on the abdomen. I love seeing winged ants, usually potential queens, but also males in the mood for love...well...at least mating, as I've learned, especially among carpenter ants. The thing with the males is...well...they don't fly very well! This is definitely one of my favorite images. Well captured and presented.
