Description

Every year the house's owner, Lee, (grey-bearded man in brown vest) comes up with a theme and builds a set for the Halloween Trick-r-Treat production. This year was Narnia. Joleen spent the afternoon as a fawn, wearing furry leggings and a suede halter. Mike, the guy next to her, was out Mister Tumnous (or however its spelled). Normally he dresses up in one of his werewolf costumes (he made one that pees!) but this year he decided to let someone else wear his creation, the Minotaur General suit. My main contribution was painting the exterior forest scenes -- (Ever try doing a pine forest based on whatever housepaint was left abandoned in the basement tool room?) -- and taking lots of photos and vids of the afternoon Trick-r-Treat activities. Gotta say, moving Trick-r-Treat to a few hours in broad daylight really sucks. No sense of mystery at all. Oh, and the infamous "razor blades hidden in caramel apples" story? Totally false. Not one documented case EVER. Frankly, the whole "only let your kids take factory-wrapped items" sounds like something spread by the candy industry to knock out any home-made competition. I do admit that as a kid I seldom ate the apples offered by my neighbors, but then I was a candy glutton.

Except I was around when the pixie sticks were laced with poison by that nut case... One child either died or nearly died...can't remember which. Its been awhile. But I agree, homemade treats can often be much better than the expensive stuff that comes in the bag. This looks like a great group! Good shot.

Just great!! And I just heard the weirdest song on the radio yesterday, a Halloween special, all about those razor blades, and nasty things. It was totally horrible, but funny as hell, and perfectly apt for the day!! Too bad we get to dress up and act like kids only one day a year!!!

The kids poisoned by the pixie sticks were poisoned by THEIR OWN FATHER, not a neighbor or a stranger. He even made them sit around the kitchen table and eat them, and forced them to eat them even after the complained that they "tasted strange". There has NEVER been any other cases of candy or other Halloween treats being tampered with.... despite the weight of the Urban Legends. J had a great time performing on Sunday for the Trick or Treaters... I also took something like 75 photos.
