Description
Captured 10/26/07 around 8:20 AM, along the outside of the east wall of my condo complex.
Here we have ivy encroaching on the territory of the tree, possibly intent on somehow smothering the arboreal giant with its predatory vines.
I walked by the same spot a few days later and discovered to my surprise that the ivy had since been removed from the row of trees that had exhibited this feature. I don't know, maybe the ivy was destructive in this case, and was removed to save the tree. Or maybe it was just removed for aesthetic reasons. Only you floral experts out there would know. Stranger things happen every day. In any event, I suppose I was most fortunate to have snapped this shot, among others, at that time.
Better viewed full size.
Thanks for looking in on this day after Halloween.

I like this one a lot, especially with the green leaved climber on the bark. How apt that you should capture this image before the greenary was remove. It is as always from you an excellent shot. I love the lighting, the colour tones, and the texture!!!

I like the ivy against this tree bark, a nice contrast I think... Great capture.

Excelent compo Harry. Like a green "crawlwer" on one side and a fine wood texture on the other half of the picture. Perfect lighting to see all the bark cracks.

I love the climbing leaves at the left of this composition! The cracks are beautiful and it looks like a pine tree.

So very nice. The bark has a shimmering quality. The ivy is clinging well to it. Next time you see an ivy climbing like this, look closely at the "fingers" at the joints that hold fast to the tree/wall/wood. I found it is an extremely interesting sight. I bet it would make a great macro for the person with good macro skills.

Wonderful composition! I love the conrast, and the light is perfect. Alas, at that hour of the morning I am slaving over a hot calculator, and have no opportunity for morning shots at this time of year. I often look out my office window and despair at the quality of the light that I'm not capturing!
