Description

What started as an experiment became...well...something else. I'd taken this picture just because I wanted to see what the hallway in the apartment building I'm staying in would look like, captured. I wasn't expecting what I got, but I like it. I am also sure that at least three people in this building are convinced that I am NOT normal, as they came out of one of the apartments to see ME laying on the floor at the head of the lowermost stairs, fiddling with my camera and using an LED Flashlight/cigarette lighter to see with, though I was less than 5 steps away from a light switch. The hallway lights are on a timer though and I didn't want to occupy the stairwell like some nefarious lurker, waiting for the lights to go back out so I could take this shot. As always, thank you for viewing and commenting, and hopefully you like what you see here

Very interesting photo. A bit disturbing. I mean it's not your typical "interesting photo". Something menacing there with all the purple reflections - at least that's how I feel it.

Very interesting work. Just enought light to show the essential and the path to the door.

Love this shot Chip- I can see it as a stand alone image, a background for some interesting Poser work (An element in The Room of Correction in the Castle maybe?) But the trouble you take to set up and capture an image is what marks you out as a good (no - excellent) photographer.

Ok Chip, now you have me wondering if I were to walk outside my apartment and see someone laying there playing with a cigarette lighter and a camera what I would do? I'd probably gasp and run back in my apartment...LOL....but what you did here paid off, I love the lighting and the colors...this is very unique and looks even better when zoomed in on...very beautiful capture Chip!

Heck, Chip, if I walked out and saw someone on the floor doing what you were doing, I'd just think "Oh yeah, there's another guy trying to get the perfect shot!!" and then I'd ask if I could hold the light for you!!! But, if I saw this hallway, I also think I'd ask you to shine that light so I could find my way in or out, kinda creepy there!! Beyond all that, this is a great foto!!!

This is outstanding. The affect you got was indeed stunning. Great stuff here. And don't worry about what the neighbors think... They are right on about us being a tad off and I'm rather proud of it because our oddities produce wonderful photos just like you did here.

I always prefer natural light, over artificial light, and the results are usually pleasing, and, as can be seen in your image, intriguing and interesting.

That's a fascinating shot, and the lighting is very ghostly and ethereal.

The effects of light and dark in this photograph are tremendous. You manage to establish a unique mood in a hallway that people overlook daily. Brilliantly, you seize the opportunity your clever eye detects. Excellent POV. Bravo.
