Description

On my first trip to Cesky Krumlov, I took the train from Prague, with 3 other friends. About 1 hour into the trip, there was some kind of an accident and all southbound trains were delayed. As a result, the train we were on stopped in a small town...actually it was probably more of a village. There are a string of these places all along the train-route and they give you fascinating glimpses into elements of Czech life that you won't see in big cities like Prague. There's a distinctly post-Communist feel in places like this, and it's not hard to imagine that during the Communist Era, things weren't so different, at least visually. This image was tweaked a bit in photoshop, just because I was looking for something to do while avoiding things to do. Hopefully you enjoy it, and as always, thank you for viewing and commenting.

It's these little vignettes that make travel so interesting, the places we wouldn't have seen but for something unforeseen. Great image!!

I like to imagine the people who live there, what their lives are like. Thanks for sharing this slice of the Czech countryside!

Yup, you're right about the "Communist look", though I prefer to call it Socialist. Neither Czech Republic nor Poland were actually communist. And I certainly would know something about it, since my childhood was spent there and then. You caught the mood perfectly here. And it's not only about the dilapidated buildings or trains. It's this sense of being left alone somewhere at the end of the world, with nowhere to go... even though there are roads everywhere, just like the tracks in your photo.

It looks like a lonely place to be....but the mood has been captured well...I agree with markablue 100%....it gives a sense of being lost and although road and track most deffinately lead somewhere it gives an emptiness of no direction, no way out. Very well done!
