Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that!ĆĀ Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.ĆĀ I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic.ĆĀ Maybe it's the beer.ĆĀ Or the bread.ĆĀ I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there.ĆĀ I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life.ĆĀ I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."ĆĀ
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block.ĆĀ It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella.ĆĀ Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal.ĆĀ I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction.ĆĀ Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress.ĆĀ As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail!ĆĀ Good day to all!

Interesting shot Chip, call me a bit weird but I see things lurking in that tunnel, specifically because you can't see anything at all, if you get my drift? And that's what it's all about. Without the lone pedestrian it wouldn't have the same atmosphere. Its like a Film Noir Direction. You can be watching that shot for a few minutes then a French voice will say something banale and a kid on a bike will go by. (Well tweaked in PS BTW. Subtlety rules!)

You got a wonderful mood here, with the pedestrian as well as with the postwork. Good stuff!

Prague is a city on my "must see" list. A great shot. Thanks for sharing.

Seems like walking into that tunnel would be really spooky, but it's good to know there are great things on the other side. Nice human touch with the pedestrian, as well!!

Cool photograph. That tunnel looks imposing! I like what you did with the colors, too.

I donĀ“t agree with Nefarious. This photography is very well done and POV and theme are okay, but I had did in black & white only. The houses and the whole scenery look a little bit old fashioned, and a b/w atmosphere could powered it up and create this special old time mood...

Well, my dear Chip. You know, I like it just the way you present it here. I would be more than happy to walk though this tunnel with you by my side. A superb shot with great mood, love the lone walker.. Hugs. Di. xx

Very interesting image:)

For some reason? You're about to walk into a dark tunnel on an empty street and he's about to walk through a closed and shuttered door? Why would that ever attract you? You, without a single philosophical bone in your body :D. That must have just jumped right out at you. I guess, your tweaks concern contrast, particularly, and maybe a little on the reds. Whatever you did, knowing you a little by now, surely added positively to what we see here.

Yet another but great image Chip, love Prague series...

Tweak or not, it's a cool shot !!!

Love the postwork. You know what it reminds me of? Old WWII movies. Kind of expecting a Gestapo squad to emerge from around the corner and shoot this poor guy. The red elements in the photo enhance this mood for me.

Very cool! The selective colouring works a treat!

Wonderful & Unique shot! That Tunnel look creepy :))

This an excellent street capture. The one person and all the cars make for an interesting comparison amd the tunnel makes for a unique perspective!

What I really like about this apart from the implicit danger of the tunnel is the way the guy looks like he's aimlessly walking into the roller shutters.

love it...a bit lonesome but with expectancy too!!!
