Description

Capture 6/19/07 in the early AM, within walking distance of my residence. There are so many rose photos being posted lately on Renderosity that I decided to join the celebration and dug deeply into my vast library of rose pictures -- like, there must be several hundred in my hard drive -- and selected this beauty, specifically because I had applied a variable focus filter to it during a mad moment of experimention some months ago and never bothered to release it to the world. The original rose itself was macro sharp all the way through, but when I applied the filter, the closest part of it remained sharp while the rest of the flower grew progressively more unfocused as it receded into the distance. You go all the way from stark reality to dreamland in one short step. In other words, this is macro on steroids. Thank you for the visit, and, enjoy yourselves, it's later than you think, enjoy yourselves, while you're still in the pink.

A beautiful rose, and I love the postwork! You are a man of many talents, my friend. This is gorgeous. I'm listening to "Mood Indigo" right now, and your lovely rose makes me think I need to pick it up a notch! It's so warm and happy! Let's see what's next . . . ahhh . . . a nice jazzy version of "Night and Day." That's a much more appropriate match for your sunny rose! :)

Its that yellow rose again! My very favorite. This is so fabulous. You got a great pov and the petals really are visible. I'm so glad you are posting roses. Believe it or not, I really love roses. LOL

In my take this drug and shove it world I don't like phrases about anything on steroids. I even less like the convenient mass produced ducking in the phrase perfect storm. But it all comes down to wake up call at some point. Then I can ignore the soundboard and it's relation to the CD drive. I can just enjoy the photo without intervening scanner. I can even get to like CF and those other slot cars memories. Depth of field after the fact. I wonder what the effective depth of field of Mt. Palomar is? Or Hubble? Must it be in light years to catch my attention? Why not go the other way to microscopy where the spherical lens crashes into the slide while focussing? Finally we are in the middle ground here at about an inch and a half of effective focus. That gets physiological. I may need a specific nude.
