Description

My first day, my first hours in Rangun I waited seven years to come here Not by coincidence, I had done everything to arrived this day, I fall in the middle FULL MOON FESTIVAL, religious holidays Each time, there are thousands of people at the temple of Shwedagon from across the country I see a group of an ethnic minority of the North that I really wanted to tae photos But these were my first hours in Burma, despite all I reading, I had no idea of the behavior and hospitality of people Do they would be reluctant to foreigners? Do they find normal my interest in them? I would be very good or very bad received? I was there, watching they and ask me all these questions So, the man who was obviously the leader of the group came up to me and ask to me- by gestures- if they could shoot me and if I accept pose to photos with them ! I almost have an uncontrollable access to laugh! They too find me very exotic, are curious and wanted know , see and talk to me My clothes, my physical appearance, the color of my hair and my skin, my way of moving and behavior, everything should be very exotic for them! They gave me one of the main lessons of photography in my life, and life itself We are always the exotic of someone else, the curiosity universal and there are no complex to be Everything depends on the respect we established with each other After that, when the people criticize the “ hunters of exoticism “ or talk about human zoo, I laugh frankly Who said that we are always of the side of observers in the zoo? Everyone is a part, on both sides I want to answer: "You know, I know a tribe in High Burma, I can introduced you the chief "

Beautiful POV and Portrait shot, you certainly capture the characters of people. What a wonderful experience to have and you hit the nail on the head too when you talk about respect too.

I sometimes see comparisons to the Northern Lights in your photos. I know in Rangun you cannot see them but the use of gold creates this deep impression. As a group these folks are colorful and exotic. One individual alone is also exotic like a professor's house in a college town. Someone lives there. The festival continues.

Absolutely wonderful portrait of this group of people, I especially like the young boy with the blue cap on, he has such a wonderful expression, you are, most likely the first Westerner that he has seen. We have to remember that a lot of people out in the world at large have yet to see their first television. We must also remember that not all places have electricity and drains. Excellent photography and dialogue Rosely. Bravo!!!!!
