Description

Port Isaac, was a busy coastal port from the Middle Ages to the mid 19th. century when it was an active harbour where cargoes like stone, coal, timber and pottery were loaded and unloaded. Though the name Isaac may be from a Cornish word for Corn.. Fishing and fish-processing were also important and today there are still fishermen working from here although tourism plays an increasingly important role. And has been the scene for many TV productions and films.. Recently as fictional Port Wenn in the series Doc Martin Most of the old centre of the village consists of 18th. and 19th. century cottages, many officially listed as of architectural or historic importance, along narrow alleys and 'opes' winding down steep hillsides. Wonderful perspective. Wonderful photo. I like the stonework. Excellent sky and birds with the shadow of one on the wall. Oh how I have always wanted to visit England and this area. Thanks for letting me see some of it through your eyes.
