Description

One of my last shots of the day day out with Chrissy (BibbyBear), Vera (PeeWee05), Danny (danob), David (Fred255) and, Carl (rockstrider)- i originally intended to take 3 shots and convert to HDR - but i couldnt get my head round the CS2 converter (only just got the camera raw update to work with my 30D files) and it turned out a lot worse than just using RSE to convert a single RAW file. So here is the final result. Thanks Carl for letting me use your tripod for this :) Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Enjoy! Rich (PS - can someone tell me if they think there is enough contrast inthis shot - i'm trying to get a feel for my monitor, it seems a bit washed out when viewed on one of my monitors - i know, i know "go buy a monitor calibration software... i'm getting to that as it seems the adobe one just sends me further into unknown territory :( )

When I first viewed it Rich, I thought it may be lacking some contrast slightly, however...... when opened at full size, the details pop so much more and I personally feel that the contrasts are great as they are - but a MUST SEE FULL SIZE!!! I absolutely love this shot. The colours are amazing and I know just how much we were all rushing to get any captures of this sunset as it seemed to come and go so quickly and we weren't really in the best of POV's for a decent sunset shot but you have worked wonders on this one - I love the way you've still managed to maintain the autumnal colours in the trees and the lucious green grass rather than have them silhoutted against the sky, which is how most of my attempts turned out!! Simply beautiful in my opinion and a definite favourite!! Hugs Chrissy xx

I agree with Chrissy, it must be viewed full size to really get the detail. I'm sure it is even more impressive when not scaled down to fit here on RR!!! Beautiful, Rich, and so glad you guys got to get together! I'm envious!!!

I think the contrast is okay in terms of light and dark and the sky and grass really pop. I'm gonna try the HDR thing too! Don't know how successful it'll be :-$ I really like your POV Rich. Sitting there and seeing where you guys were standing I thought I really don't like that POV, it's too boring. But looking at your shot it doesn't seem to bad. It's amazing how different photographers see things differently. I think you've made the tree pop really nicely and made it stand out and be your subject. I do think you've over baked the sunset however and it's this really burnt out peach colour to me. It really was a good day in terms of company.

The sky and grass seem very color rich and vibrant, the trees do seem a little pale in comparison but if you were to vamp up the contrast I'm afraid the grass would look fake and the sky unnatural. Its a wonderful view. This sort of landscape is one of my favorites. Excellent shot.

It is looking great on my monitor! Excellent contrast for a shot against the light and considering how much details you can see in a full size view! Superb view!!!
