Description

This is the only room that we have not visited. The smallest room in the house, but in this case outside the house. This was the main reason for the chamber pot inside the cottage. The cottage only has one door, and thats at the front, this little house is some twenty yards from the front door. I have included another picture here of an even smaller house, this is where the pig lived, right next door to the toilet. You could not tell who made the stink then(LOL). This particular 'Toilet' was a single seater, some had two seats, so that two people could go together. This is the last from the Squatters Cottage, I hope you have enjoyed this journey back in time as much as I have. I am still staying back here in the 1800's for a spell longer, just to see If I can find anything else interesting to take a picture of. Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are.

What a fantastically made outhouse. Sturdy and cozy... Not much light to read the morning paper by or the seed catalog but then, there probably wasn't a paperboy who delivered that far out. :-) Great tour!

Great collage Jeff of the old Outside toilet. Can you imagine those bitter cold Winter mornings ? Seeing this always takes me back to when I was a kid we would visit my Grandma, she lived in a small cottage in Ingleton, Yorkshire, and she still had an outside loo with whitewashed walls an all. And at night you had the old Enamel tin Potty. Great stuff.

Thank you Cecilia, I had not noticed that it was the 100th posting, and what a pile of **** I posted. I used to work in a brick ground in Littleborough and we still had outside loos in 1972.
