A work in progress! Hi! My name is Melinda. I am happily married to the love of my life and we have a daughter who is in college. I live in Southern California and I am an amateur photographer. My husband bought me my Kodak P880 for Christmas in 2006. I looked at it and thought I'd never figure it out! I've only taken regular every day snapshots and never looked through the lens in a "creative" way. Then in March 2007 someone introduced me to Renderosity.  In May, I became brave and decided to upload my first photo... I haven't been able to put my camera down since! LOL. I still have a lot to learn, but I sure am having fun doing it. I have come a long way though. This time last year, I couldn't even put a photo on the computer! Now I have started to research DSLR cameras ... Who knows what the future brings! Update: I now have that DSLR :) Was the best Christmas (2008) gift!   I did the research and picked it out and Santa put it under the tree. It's a Canon Rebel Xsi .

I have a new DSLR, the Canon 7OD. A gift from my husband for Mother's Day. So much to explore!

The little guy in there adds so much and the wonderful color and texture of the wood is lovely.. fantastic shot...

fantastic texture and I love the shadows and light that create the bumpy surface shot. That "thing" is a nice touch. Glad you took this shot and not me. I do not like those things much...

A terrific capture of the bumps, lumps, nooks, crannies and nodules of the tree bark, with that critter rushing out to protect its territory. Actually, the bark looks lot like my dry breakfast cereal close up -- minus the critter of course -- before I pour milk on top. Thanks for mentioning my bark photos. I had forgotten all about them and will have to begin posting them again.

Great image, the millipede is the first thing that I saw, since as a weird kid, I used to go out and catch them. They secrete defensive pheromones, which (for a weird kid like me) smelled rather nice, in a damp forest sort of way. They're great creatures, far more docile than the number of legs they have implies...they differ from centipedes because they have 2 pairs of legs per body segment. Anyway, enough of the critter...the whole image is great! I love the way you've captured such variety, the thumbtack, the web, the play of light and shadow. The whole thing just works wonderfully, and as I said, the millipede is a great find.
