Description
This old jewel comes from the early 1920's. It was made by the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company. In the 1920's the two biggest American phonograph companies were the Victor Talking Machine Company and Brunswick. Victor Talking Machine later became RCA Victor (Radio Corporation of America), eventually to drop the Victor entirely and become known as it is today, RCA.
Brunswick was originally known as a billiard company and was founded in 1845. In the late 1800's it merged with the two other names and they expanded well beyond the billiard business.
Brunswick had the lion's share of the phonograph market by the early 1920's, and they got in the record making business as well. By the mid 1920's their name was everywhere, on most record machines, many of the old 78's and record covers.
Most Brunswick models have a decal under the lid. It states "Brunswick" in large gold script with "The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company" beneath in smaller black print, as is the case on this model (although partially obscured in this shot).
This was photographed yesterday at an old antique shop in Hardy, Arkansas. It's actually 3 different shots stitched together, each one with a different focal point: the record center, the arm, and the back cover where the Brunswick logo is visible.
BTW, the record is an old 78 of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

Interesting work. I first thought it was a 3D model, because of the clear details on 3 different distances. This is the kind of art work and descriptions that I learn allot from. Thanks! :)
