Good choice B/W Mick, and good pov. like you have hoped for - you HAVE captured the era. Every week me and my good lady go to Ramsbottom (near Bury lancs) They run Steam trains and the old Deisels, and have those theme days like WW2 War weekend and Thomas the Tank Engine etc etc. I love it. No doubt I'll post some one day. Weather is improving here, hope you get out soon.

I don't care what they say, the age of steam trains was the best ever. You can keep your superfast electric and your deisels, give me the steady pull of the steam engine any day. Like the B&W Mick, takes me back to my childhood going on the train to Rhyl for a weeks holiday. This is quite ghostly when you look in depth, the last door on the left hand train is open, lookslike a ramp up to it, but there is a distinct lack of people. Do you remember getting on the train in the days of steam, all the carriage doors open, the guard walking along shutting them and testing they were shut, hanging out the window watching him to the end. Then he would hold up his green flag and blow his whistleand the steam would belch out and the smoke would puff out into the sky with a steady 'Chuff-chuff, chuff-chuff-chuff. I think I like it Mick, getting carried away with the train then, going on my hols.(ROFLMAO). Bravo!!!!!

Nice picture. Mick, are those milk containers on that pull cart? That certainly speaks of a bye gone era! Todd

Wonderful POV and captured the mood of the era, as you say. I've been to a few train depots, and this sure brought back some memories. BTW, my father's name was Mick, too. ;o)

I guess we all have something in this shot to identify with. I have one of those milk cans in my back yard. I used it up until about 18 years ago when I would go to the dairy and have it filled. You could only do that if you said it was for other than human consumption but they knew it was for those of us who liked fresh milk better than the store-bought stuff. I rode my first train just 6 years ago. A wonderful experience if you have no schedule to meet. They are really bad about getting you where you need to go by a certain time. The b/w of this is so great. The mood it gives is one of good memories.
