Description

Gator make mounds to put the eggs in and watch over it. This one the eggs is gone but I saw this log in the water then I notes the eyes. That about all you may see. I got a photo of the mother with just her noise and eyes out the water. The rangers had put up a orange feance to protect the gator and the people too. The orange feance is down now. I try for two and halve hours to scan the film where the other shot of the gator is. Haveing touble but i get it. no time now. I took that shot a month ago and I took these two on 10-30-2007. I all most got out the truck here to get a close up shot of the mound but I saw the log and keep looking at it and I then saw it was a gator looking at me. So I back the truck up and telephoto the mound. I do not know who to contact for the fate of the eggs or the babies gators thanks for looking and comments

I have seen gators close enough. Watching them stalk birds in the water is comic.

Watch out for them gators, Ol' Jocko. I almost stepped on one once down on the Brazos River. Looked like a log to me. Cool nature pics!

Wow you do live in a scary area! and I watched on the Discover channel before oh wait I meant "Dirty Jobs" show before, how they collected alligator eggs and hatched them, and sold some gators. they used helicopters also with spears with flags attached to them and when they spotted a nest they would throw the spear down with the flag attached, and it would land near the nest. then they would land the copter after hunting several areas and locate the spears and retrieve the eggs. did you ever see that show? it's with Mike Roe.

Fine pictures. You're a pretty brave soul, Jock! I think I see the alligator, but it looks like a log lying there among all the leaves. I bet if you poked the gator with a stick you could get some very good photos.

Whoa! Good thing you had the telephoto lens! You gotta be way more careful Jock, can't be losing you, need your uploads to keep me happy! Very cool shots though, I think I would have missed the gator, not knowing what I was looking for. I'd have thought it was a log and been lunch!
