Description

The tales on a hospital bed are slow and as predictable as the timing of your 3 meals, the measuring of your temperature, puls, blood pressure, and the inevitable belly prick, which always seems to come with a noticeable smile around the corners of the nurse's mouth Every room has telly now, as the age-old exchanges of tales of malady with your room mate start to diminish in front of a soap Having a deadly disease lost it's romance, the fighting spirit, the hero, drugged into oblivion The coward in me Grins Dirk Thanks for reading this far and any comments you might have. The photo of me was taken on a beautiful spring evening in Rotterdam, back in 2005, by Lieselot Ijsendoorn http://www.ijsendoorn.com

Just got home, signed on, and found this sitting here, whispering loudly enough with your resonating words, that it didn't require any noise at all before I noticed its existence. (huh? okay, long day...it made sense in my head anyway) :) Such wonderful insights from you on your experiences and where they've led your thoughts (as experiences, good, bad, or otherwise, tend to bring). I am grateful to you for sharing them so openly. And this made me giggle aloud by myself...over some inherent absurdities that you've touched upon, and that I never once before considered (I blame my rather twisted sense of humor). As always, such beautiful writing...with impact that is resonant. And, the photo is wonderful, of course! Her use of light and its bathing of your face is beautiful :)

I have watched the phenomenon from the other side more times than I want to remember. Thank you for this perspective - my heart grins back, remembering those drugged-to-the-gills times. :)
