He's retired now, sitting here cosily in the belfry square only yards from where he used to work. You could compare him to Big Ben. The Graslei was the High Street. "Gras" means "grass" (No!), and "lei" means "canal". 700 years ago, long before the Americans were born, merchants would trade herbs and other goods along the quay.
