Description
Unlike most other insects the wings of Damselflies (pictured) & Dragonflies cannot be folded back. Their eyes are compounded from many thousands of single eyes which give them a broader field of view. The larva lives in slow-flowing or still water.

Nice capture of this Damselfly. They are tiny and often are difficult to even see much less photograph. Dragonflies belong to the Order "Odanata" and Suborder "Anisoptera" while Damselflies belong to the Order "Odanata" but Suborder (Zygoptera". In almost every case, Dragonfly eyes touch each other while Damselfly eyes are separated (as in this photo). Damselflies are also generally quite a bit smaller than their Dragonfly cousins. Most people do not know this and call them all Dragonflies. Thanks for sharing. Lee

Colin, You are on my favorites list, because I too have taken pictures of insects, and am inspired by all that is around me, of that realm. I love the idea that you also provide information about all your pictures, things I didn't know. Your pictures are so clear, and really great. I don't know how you managed to get this great close-up, my experience is that if they see you they usually fly away. Great shot!

Thanks Lee for the extra information and helped me make a correct indentification of this insect.
