Description

It's early morning for me having gone to bed at 3 last night, and it takes a risqué title to bring a smile to my face. That and the fact that I reached the 300 benchmark with this upload! Love the fact that I can look back at my work and safely say I have improved my photography, pretty much thanks to the site and encouraging comments keeping me going, so thanks for that. In a week's time I may well be able to safely say when asked that I am a semi-professional photographer - lets see if anyone wants to buy this stuff at the x-mas market... This was the offending cockrel which used to wake me up every morning by crowing right outside my window... and by window i mean sheet of mosquito netting and by crowing i dont mean it did it once and then stopped, it was a continuous "hey it's morning lets really make sure these damned humans are up". We managed after a month or so to put it in a pen with all his hens away from the living quarters to much relief - we ate the other cockrel, but that one didnt have a voice so it wasnt as satisfying as killing this one, which never happened in my time there, he grew old and lost his colour before i left, and i am sure they have eaten him by now but i think everyone of the volunteers (non-veg) who suffered in the morning would have loved to see the thing on their plate! Fun times. Anyway, hope you like my portrait. IN postowrk i actually treated the thing like a female glamour portrait - "how can i make you look more sexy?" was on my mind when doing this. Although i dont think this guy is sexy, i think it gave a good result. Enjoy! Rich

I think he's fabulous! The detail and texture you have brought out in him is so good! I really love chickens and roosters are really my favorite. I know most people dislike the constant crowing but I think its like wind chimes on a summer breeze... I'm glad he grew old and had a good life... until whatever fate had in store for him.
