Description

A shot from the same walkabout as yesterday's shot of the little grasshoppers :) Again this guy was smaller than he appears in the photo, being about the size of a 2 pence coin. Surprisingly these guys were well camouflaged and it was only because i walked past their resting place in the grass and disturbed them that i realised they were there (there were about 3-4 of them flitting around the area). Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Enjoy! Rich PS - this image was only really postable after some intensely good noise processing from the Imagenomic plugin i won in the Halloween contest - very impressed with this software, thanks RR! :)

I'm impressed with this shot! The detail is stupendous and the macro is so fine I can see things I've never dreamed of seeing in a butterfly. Excellent.

Wow.. Nice capture. you did it again! ... Despite the camouflage, on the lower wing it got a fake eye, (yellow ring with a dark iris). This little detail makes the whole butterfly look like the head of a bigger creature to potential predators. I like this fascinating paradox in the nature. The butterfly goes from hiding to scaring in one move. ;) ...

Love the composition and the background is so perfectly soft. I too love Imagenomic's noiseware software - works great and is highly recommended. Great capture!
