My career as an artist began quite early at the age of 15. Granted, not with 2-dimensional work as you'll see posted here, but by 3-dimensional work in the form of macramé, when I was commissioned by a woman to create a wallscape for her dining room. Once I graduated from high school, and out of the world of "crafts",  I decided to venture into the visual arts where I found my strength in graphic design/illustration by receiving my BFA from the University of Idaho.
With sheepskin in hand and ready to take on a budding career, I discovered the wonderful world of television and broadcast design. I've been in the business for almost 22 years now and currently the Art Director for a local TV station here in Seattle, Washington. During this tenure I have received 2 regional Emmy awards for my work in design and animation.
As technology changes in this fast-paced broadcast field, I'm finding myself learning new software and applications to keep up with the demand for visual stimulation and information sharing. I'm also finding that this industry is so saturated with this visual stimulation (just look at all the cable networks) that to slow down and take the time to "take in" and appreciate simple, direct design and composition is very refreshing.
As a professional artist/designer, I have responsibilities to a client and the needs for a product to "break out" and to be noticed. But as an artist who appreciates art for art's sake, sometimes an image is just an image to be admired with the opportunity for us to just let our eyes breathe a little.
Here in my gallery, you will see samples of my work from photography, video animations, digital manipulation, logos and trademarks. Some simple, others more complex. Enjoy...I hope!
