Description
I live in Victoria which is one of the southern states of Australia. This insect (moth I think) was found in my garden. I only got this one shot before it flew off and I didn't get a chance to better this image. If anybody can help identify the species I would appreciate the information.

Yes, I think is a mouth too, but I approve it's so strange with this form, but the color is very amazing and I like to look the clear details like the eyes, foot.... Excellent picture !

Hi it might be one of those Bogon Moths. These moths have just recently swarmed, up in Sydney, there were so many that apparently get blown of course. I think they originate from the ACT. Hope this helps. Nice photo by the way. Jan
