Description

This is a work in progress. A few years ago, a friend of mine was making a Sci Fi movie about alien abductions. In the movie he said that all the aliens came from a Dyson Sphere (named after physicist Freeman Dayson) a solid sphere built around a sun. I said "Hey, a Dyson sphere is great but everybody knows what it is.... your aliens should come from a Collin Sphere (named after ME!)" and I explained the concept and construction to him. Like a Dyson Sphere, the livable area surounds a sun... unlike a Dyson, it is not solid. The Collin Sphere consists of a number of loosely interlinked panels, which are separate from each other. In essence, they are a series of "Flat Earths" surrounding the sun at roughly 1 to 1.25 AU's (Astronomical Units, roughly 93 Million Miles). The advantage is that if a comet is approaching from that system' Oort Cloud, the "Flat Earths" can be moved out of the way, the same with solar flares. and it's a lot more stable than Ringworld! So, there you have it... The Collin Sphere! comments welcome, please enjoy!

I prefer the Blue cube. (Named after...) A large cube surrounding the sun with the farthest corners housing conical earths. Neither solid nor spacial but rather spectral. We have one around our sun but since it is spectral we cannot perceive it (much less see it.) On these conical worlds are scientists who learned about Collin spheres and have since vacated the planets in search of such galactic miracles. By looking extremely close, you can see that's them on your forward facing flat earth. Waving "Hi"

The "Collin Sphere" will make all those pre-Chris Columbus navigators happy...just don't sail too far, unless your lined up with another flat panel country ! As for me, I would have been burned at the stake for proving our blue planet is round, by using a stick (think boat mast) and an orange, but I like the concept ! Intriguing and ~Cheers~ :o)

Or how about a Ruby Cube. LOL Interesting concept and well done image to illistrate the craziness in the sphere above your shoulders. Now that's a planet of a different name. LOL!!! LOL!!!
