Description

I was inspired to post this by blacq_nyght_vampyre's sea lion pictures. This is skipping ahead in my Alaska trip--it was taken from the deck of the boat, the ViewFinder out of Seward, Alaska. We took a nature-viewing tour on July 4, 2006 into Resurrection Bay. These are Steller (or northern) sea lions--looks like a bull with his harem sunning themselves, although it was a pretty overcast day.

I forgot to mention that the "whitewash" on the rocks is from hundreds (or thousands) of sea birds. The birds in the picture are small gulls called black-legged kittiwakes.
