Description
Found a couple of old shots from the 1981 Reading Festival.
Today, Gillan, headlining on the Sunday night.
In shot are the man himself, Ian Gillan on vocals and the arm and drumstick of Mick Underwood. Also on stage at the time (but, sadly, not in my picture) were Janick Gers on guitar, John McCoy on bass and Colin Towns on keyboards.
Picture taken with a Praktica MTL3 with a 200mm lens and available light from the press enclosure. (I was lucky enough to get backstage passes for all three days in 1980, 81 and 82) :-)

I remember it was around 1979, i'd just bought the newly released "Mr Universe" album and was using the "Men's" at Holborn Kingsway, I was just doing the "Biz" when it went all dark, I looked to my right and there he was...Mr Gillan himself! A few month's later I went to see "Gillan" at the Rainbow theatre in London....The night Mr Blackmore himself decided to get up and do a rock and roll meddly with his former bandmate...What a night!!! This is a great shot of Ian Gillan in typical stance...thank's for the memory!!
