Description

Here's something a little different from me - a trueSpace 7.51 realtime render using DX9 shaders. For those not familiar with tS realtime 3d environments you may be interested to know that this is a snapshot taken inside a fully immersive 3d setting. It's possible to walk (in realtime like in a game enviroment) across those bridges and actually explore inside the building and beyond so this is more than just a staged 3d render - it's a full 360 degree 3d space! The background sky is a full spherical projection of a Mojoworld cubic render using Dmtry Lavrov's Volumetric Plug in and a modified version of the Mountain Lakes world. Everything else is trueSpace. This is still a work in progress but I thought it made a good picture as is so I thought I'd share it with my r'osity friends. As always, any comments, criticisms or compliments are gratefully accepted.

Stephen, this is outstanding! Is this available for walkthrough at the TS site? I know I'd have to install a plugin to see it - (True Place? - something like that) I've got it around here somewhere, lol, haven't reinstalled much since my last format in August! Let me know if it's possible, I'd really love to walk through this space. Beautiful snapshot!

Hi Judee - yes you could walk through this scene using the freely available truePlay application from Caligari.com...but, no it's not yet available anywhere. At the moment the scene file is something like 34 megs in size so it's quite big and requires a lot of optimizing before it's ready for others to walk through. It also requires a reasonably new graphics card in your computer to see it at it's best - anything capable of showing the best of modern PC games should suffice. Eventually I may make this scene and others available - perhaps on CD for a small fee but I don't yet have any concrete plans. A lot will depend on the amount of interest shown I guess! 3d environments like this are still in their infancy and have a vast potential future - I've personally only scratched the surface of what is possible.
