Description

Well here we are at last, almost five miles of trail with a 3000 foot rise in elevation. The Top of Texas! Guadalupe Peak 8749ft/2667m. I was so disappointed because of the haze/pollution and how it limited our view. I had this vision of getting all these extreme vista shots from up here. Life is like that, you have to enjoy the journey, because the destination does not always turn out like you plan. I did enjoy it and got to see and take pictures of some beautiful creation. The monument is a pilot memorial erected in 1958 by American Airlines at the summit of Guadalupe Peak. The six-foot high stainless steel trylon, erected before the authorization of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, commemorates the carriers of transcontinental overland and air mail. This is my friend and his 10 year old son. Hope you enjoyed the hike, now we have to walk back down.... :) 4 1/2 hours to get here, about 4 to get back to the trailhead where we started.... :) As always all comments and advice are welcome. Thank you for walking along with me and commenting . See Y'all, Todd

That's still quite a view! I know what you mean though about enjoying the journey vs the destination. These have been a wonderful series of photos!
