Description
Recently on Mars, the Hirise camera onboard the NASA Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has discovered what happened to be straight, vertical holes in the martian surface. Some are just the collapsed roof of volcanic lava tubes, but others could be the entrance to subterranean caverns and make good refugium for future human explorers. The bottom of these pits were not visible, the only way to know is to go.
Background entirely rendered in Vue5, then the Vue scene was exported in LW9 and partially re-rendered with the astronaut in LW. Composited in Photoshop.

Great image and great vision of space exploration...wouldn't it be nice if we actually could go...but me n you...well we're too old I fear.. ...

Actually bobby, I think that older folks like us show more interest in space exploration than the youngsters.

We we'll never go if the House of Representatives have their way. They have been trying to strip the human exploration of Mars out of the funding for NASA. Of course, if we'd give the same monies to the private space companies we'd probably get there in the next ten to 15 years. Will be lucky if if we live to see it happen in 2030. I probably won't get to. Will be turning 70 in a couple of months. To live to that date will likely be stretch for me. And to think how this country wasted more than 40 years. I predict that the first person to set foot on Mars will NOT be an American.
