Description

In the Imperial GravTank Regiment, the women all fall into one of two categories: optimists and pessimists. You can tell them apart at a glance. The thing is that a list of the formidable creations of the female mind isn't going to have "anti-grav" anywhere near the top. Personal anti-grav packs were meant to render traditional jetpacks obsolete, until the black joke circulated that no girl would be seen dead wearing an anti-grav pack, unless she actually used it. The 'tanks are massively shielded, powerfully armed. Male defences can't resist the "shockwave" cannon. The trouble is that the anti-gravity system really doesn't seem as "anti" as all that. The 'tanks have a disconcerting tendency suddenly to re-acquaint themselves with terra firma with a spine-jarring thud, after which they won't move an inch. Hence optimists versus pessimists. The Optimist thinks that her 'tank will reach the target. If it does break down, she will stay inside, relying on the shields to defend her and using the 'tank's huge armoury to punish any counter-attackers. Since she has no intention of leaving the sanctuary of the 'tank before the female infantry catch up, she makes a point of always wearing the official tanker's uniform: bright red skinsuit and purple gloves. Tankers don't need camouflage. The Pessimist hasn't the slightest doubt that the anti-grav will fail, usually at the least convenient moment imaginable. Yes, the gravtank can still defend itself, but the Pessimist prefers to put the beached contraption into auto-protect, with a tripwire-activated self-destruct process, while the Pessimist ignites her primitive-but-dependable jetpack and reaches friendly territory. For that, camouflage is useful, so the Pessimist prefers an infantry uniform. A gravtank has a crew of two. Tank from DAZ. Helmet by Jean-Luc Ajrarn, from RDNA and CP (fits a wide range of characters - not just V4).
