Description

The Theocratic Guard puts Imperium first, second and third; new guardswomen are expected to forget about their homeworlds and only to speak in Standard Imperial Elocution. When a base for the Guards was established on Penthesilea, it put many local noses out of joint. Firstly, it seemed to imply that Penthesilean loyalty was suspect (not the case). Secondly, it suggested that the indigenous forces were inadequate for system defence (again, not true). Members of the Guards, attached to planetary units, had a miserable time, frozen out by the local troops, who pointedly used the obscure planetary dialect when there were Guards about. Gradually, individual guards broke down the barriers by treating the local soldiers as equals and by learning to speak the dialect. "Going native" was expressly contrary to the Guards' ethos, so it's not surprising, perhaps, that no-one felt a compelling need to report this turn of events higher up the chain of command. Sydney, Miki2 and V4; "Trooper" outfit by Royloo. PICK kit for Scifi from RDNA. Rendered in Poser 7.
