Description

This was an experiment is Sub Surface Scattering (SSS). If anyone's interested: Originally I had applied SSS to Vicky, her hair and clothes. I also appled SSS to the paper in the walls as well as translucence so they would glow from the interior lights and to top it off depth of field was turned on for the camera view. Well, after losing about 20 hours of render time to multiple crashes I ended up rendering everything sperately and compositing them and faking the depth of field by blurring parts of the image. I finally greyscaled a layer and blended it with the colour layer. By applying SSS to Vickies clothes and hair the render time went from about 10 mins to 4.6 hours. The Dojo prop required about 7 hours to render.

Superb work great nod to a great movie The surface treatments and DOF add so much to an otherwise well composed scene. Very well done.

I really like the posing as well! It is sad that making really great renders needs loads of processor power, or patience. I always want things that seem to take days to render, so finding solutions that get near the result without too much compromise make up a lot of the end results.
