Description

I was looking for a spiral staircase for a scene idea I had but couldn't find the style that I wanted so I decided to try and make my own. The image shown was the finished stairs and semi finished alcove for the staircase but after doing the render I saw several areas that need changing (the outside spiral needs more sections to make it look smoother, support details for the steps and the room does some weird things from some angles). It was supposed to be a B&W render which is why the colours are mostly gray but I expect to try a couple of variations for different moods. I expect to make this a freebie when finished so if you have anything you think I should add, now's the time to speak up :)

Fantastic render and models. Carrara render? Lighting looks really good - better than the average poser, certainly the light on the wall and the shadows. Wonderful!

WOW! That is most impressive. One thing to add (a suggestion) - are lights along the inner circular wall heading up. I'm thinking that when it's night you'd want to be able to see your steps coming down this incredible spiral staircase. (can't just rely on daylight...) This is just awesome. Wow! Wow! Wow! Very much looking forward to this - so elegant, so well conceived and constructed.

It seems that the distance in height between the treads is a liitle high. It looks like the woman should be at a bigger scale which would make the stair then look a little narrow. I would make the outside radius a liitle bigger if you keep the distance between the treads the same. It would keep the staircase as a whole proportionate, or bring the treads closer together vertically. I hope this doesn't come off as offensive. I think the stairs are awesome looking!

total respect to your skills, I cannot see any thing wrong with it at all, my only suggestion is that you could offer is as a Carrara scene with all those spangely mats in place.

Great looking stairway and a beautiful render. Have to agree w/you about the segment in the inner rail and the earlier suggestion about the inner lighting as well. The tread height seems just about perfect to me (perhaps seemingly skewed thanks to the POV) -- looking forward to giving this setting a try :D
