Description

The image was produced using a 512 DEM file of Monument Valley. Special thanks to Tangled-Universe (Martin Huisman) for the use of his small stones/big cracked rocks clip file; and, to Buzzzzz (Jay Testerman) for his guidance in connection with the use of some of the vegetation used in the scene. This file should yield some better scenes with a lower point of view; and, there are many in this region. Thanks for your visit; and, for your suggestions for improvement.

Gorgeous render - and such a big sky! I think you are right, though - a lower POV might improve the view. Only a small thing but the shadow cast at centre is slightly distracting.

Excellent terrain and surfacing/shading. Atmosphere still has some noise in it (more samples). White clouds in background a bit globular for me. But super desert scene.

a superb shot Bob, there is so much to take in ... the 512 terrain base is exceptionally detailed, the pants are expertly placed as are the strata and surfaces i also love the distant clouds obscured slightly by the lower level ones ... the lighting too is well suited for the pov ... I look forward too seeing more from this world!

I think you did a fantastic work, Bob, as it is so hard to get the right textures for the rocks in the foreground! It is a wonderful view with a splendid sky and very realistic 'monuments' in the background!!!

Seems a bit too red on my monitor....the clouds look good but, I dunno...maybe the contrast is off or something...they just don't seem normal for some reason...still, I love the terrain and view but, overall....well your old TG .9 work was way better than this....sorry :(

Believe it or not, Bob - I think a lower view would benefit a better experience - yet this exercise shows the potential of TG2 with a little 513 heightmap... I have not yet done serious work with them yet, but soon... Thanks for the inspiration!

Agree, love the deep and the distant canyons. Perhaps the clouds are a bit too heavy?

I personally like the rich, deep reds here- combined with the excellent terrain features, I think it's a great scene. I agree there are many more great POV's in this one- I will look forward to seeing them all.

WOW Bob... incredible beauty. I find the 'red' rock/sand a delight to look at here. Fits the lighting and the terrain perfectly. I feel as if I'm looking at a photo... beauty...
