Description
From the time I arrived at Oberammergau just before Christmas the weather was cloudy with some snow every day and the mountains were obscured. The temperature was just below freezing. On the 29th December it started to clear up and the temperature began to drop. So I decided to go to the Zugspitze the next day. On the morning of the 30th I drove to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, it was -16C and clear.
I parked, on the advise of my cousin, at a Supermarket parking lot, saving about 10 euros in fees. I walked to the train station and bought a roundtrip ticket to the top of the Zugspitze - 50 euros.
This picture shows people waiting at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station for the train to arrive at . They got off at various stops to go to a number of different slopes for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or snow boarding, and a good number went to the top. This picture was taken on 30 December 2005.
