Description

The not so pretty aftermath of the ice storm. Clockwise from the top right... My parent's front yard; My parent's back yard; A few blocks from my house (blurred the license for privacy); My neighbor across the street (just about every tree they had fell and left branches all over) The community has really pulled together. My son's Highschool offered the showers yesterday until 7:00 pm for those who needed them. There are several shelters located in each town for warmth. My parents neighbors had generators and a huge barn and housed 5 families. We stayed at my parents (no electricity, but they had a wood burning stove). So we are all taking care of each other. I'll post some more of the pretty pictures over the next several days...It really was beautiful. Natures deadly decorations. Thanks for looking and any comments or critiques welcomed. When I was very young, we had a freak storm blow in. The blizzard locked us in our homes for 7 full days. The plows couldn't get to us and the drifts nearly covered ever house on the block. Good thing we always kept a larder full of supplies just in case. :-) These shots are very clear and your narative is great. Glad to know you are ok.

Even in this destruction, there is beauty as well. Great fotos, for someone like me who's never see this kind of weather, it's even more powerful!!

OH NO, you were right my friend I had to look away after seeing them. The photos are great of course but the memories too strong still. The horrible ice storm last year at this time is the reason I purchased my first chainsaw and I had no idea I'd have to use it again this season

With the exception, albeit a large one, of the destruction it is almost pretty the way the ice hangs onto everything!!!!

Nice documentary work....brings back alot of mememories. Great that everyone dose seem to help each other in times like these. When ours hit we had no electriic for 3 weeks..the powerline poles broke in half...like a beautiful swan turned into a ugly duckling. Take care.

Excellent shots. Just seeing them and I'm getting cold. I imagine what must have been being caught under this ice storm. I hope nobody got hurt.
