Description

Best viewed full size. As you can see I have tried to make this as presentable as possible using Photoshop elements 5.0,I haven't manipulated the structure of the ruin in any way but colour and old paper effect. I took many shots from varios angles, it was fenced off and had very overgrown surroundings, looked dangerously unstable. This shot - I just held the camera up over the fence and clicked with one hand. Destroyed by fire back in June this year. I couldn't believe it had come to this. As I walked around to get the photos, I genuinly was close to tears. It is believed to have been victim of vandals or burglars. Although the building was in great need of repair there were many internal features such as great oak beams lost in the fire. I understand that various local groups and conservationists are in the process of making some decisions of what will become of the site. Thanks for all comments made. A group of us today are going out for a Christmas meal and I will get chance to meet up with a good friend JeffG7BRJ who I have not seen for some weeks now. Enjoy your Weekend ! Alan.

Well you've said it all with the title Alan, a very sad end to a great historicle treasure, I doubt very much if it can be restored to its former glory. Even if it could it would be open to vandalism again due to where it is situated. Who knows, they may get a grant to do it up. Excellent capture and presentation. Bravo!!!!!

Alan, your postwork is precious to this shot. What a wonderful detailed sketch it makes. The pampas in front is also great as it gives the feeling of looking through the overgrowth. I really empathize with you on this. I has a similar landmark disappear in my hometown a few years back. I had no idea it was going to be torn down, especially since it had a rich history for our town...but then, maybe that was it. It was the last gambling house and motel in the area and housed some legandary "women of entertainment" - Cadillac Mary was one of them. I arrived in town to see the last of it laying in the dirt and managed to pick up one old cracked tile to bring home. It still bothers me to know its gone.

Damn. I was afraid of that. Well, your photography is wonderful, and I love the postwork, even though this image is just too sad for words. Give Jeff a hug and a kiss for me, will you? I would do it myself if I were there, but it's a long, wet walk!

Enchanting image of a violent drama. The PW you did in Psd Elements 5 really transfroms an already excellent capture into a kind of drawing. I knew that this cheap amateur version had incredible capabilities with multi-layering an the same transparency modes as the professional Photoshop, but I did not imagine this. Wonderful! What a work if the authorities try to rebuild this house, however hoping that they can do.

OHHH! I see why you are sad about that one too, my friend. Such a gorgeous building it was. Though you have captured this so beautifully. I just had to go back in your exiting gallery and have a look. Actually too exiting.
