Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

Well you've said it all with the title Alan, a very sad end to a great historicle treasure, I doubt very much if it can be restored to its former glory. Even if it could it would be open to vandalism again due to where it is situated. Who knows, they may get a grant to do it up. Excellent capture and presentation. Bravo!!!!!

Alan, your postwork is precious to this shot. What a wonderful detailed sketch it makes. The pampas in front is also great as it gives the feeling of looking through the overgrowth. I really empathize with you on this. I has a similar landmark disappear in my hometown a few years back. I had no idea it was going to be torn down, especially since it had a rich history for our town...but then, maybe that was it. It was the last gambling house and motel in the area and housed some legandary "women of entertainment" - Cadillac Mary was one of them. I arrived in town to see the last of it laying in the dirt and managed to pick up one old cracked tile to bring home. It still bothers me to know its gone.

Damn. I was afraid of that. Well, your photography is wonderful, and I love the postwork, even though this image is just too sad for words. Give Jeff a hug and a kiss for me, will you? I would do it myself if I were there, but it's a long, wet walk!

Heartbreaking to see this Alan, I hope with all my heart that something can be done to restore this beautiful building. Your shot is outstanding but makes me so sad. Hugs for a happy night. I hope you had a wonderful night out with your friends, so nice to meet up, isn't it. Diane. xx

What a terrible shame! I you can probably tell I love old buildings such a shame to see this happen. Another bit of history lost for ever.

Enchanting image of a violent drama. The PW you did in Psd Elements 5 really transfroms an already excellent capture into a kind of drawing. I knew that this cheap amateur version had incredible capabilities with multi-layering an the same transparency modes as the professional Photoshop, but I did not imagine this. Wonderful! What a work if the authorities try to rebuild this house, however hoping that they can do.

OHHH! I see why you are sad about that one too, my friend. Such a gorgeous building it was. Though you have captured this so beautifully. I just had to go back in your exiting gallery and have a look. Actually too exiting.
