Description
A dear friend of mine Lior is going through some rough times right now with the loss of his Mother and I wanted to do something to show my support during this bad time. Lior my friend you have always been so kind to me, and always had such nice things to say all of the time. I marvel at your art and hope one day I can be even half as good as you are my friend. If you have not seen Lior's work please check it out and go to his home page also for a real treat. I tried to think of the happiest moment of my life and tried my best to capture that moment to share with you my friend.
Saturday Morning By The Fire: Without any doubt my favorite memory of all time is of when my sister Veronica & I would spend each weekend at our grandparents home on the farm. Every Saturday we would struggle out of bed and make our way into the living room to huddle up by a old burner style stove at 6:00 so we could watch cartoons. Back then there were only 4 channels on t.v. and they would only show cartoons on Saturday mornings from 6:00 - 11:00 so we really were so excited at this magical treat. Grandma would let our dog Frisky into the house and Veronica and I would huddle up against each other, struggling to stay awake watching such cartoon classics as ( Johnny Quest, Underdog & Rocky & Bullwinkle ) I know this is a simple image, but I tried to capture that moment in time and this is what came out. My focus was on the old stove which every time it came on gave us a warm and happy feeling. Hope this memory can bring a smile to you Lior, it is the least I can do for all you have done for me my friend.
Dave

Old Smokey Stove was a oven I had believe it
or not and I converted it for my needs. I'll
try to find out who made it originally.

Wonderful composition, Dave. A fine dedication to Lior. He is a fantastic photographer. And i know how hard it is to loose parents..we don't know how much we really love them...until they are gone.. that is the scary part of it. A lovely childhood memory too. From you and Veronica i believe. I think it is special because it is about feelings. The feeling of safety and security.. one of the fantastic we had, when we were kids. Many kids don't have that kind of safety nowadays. Humans have the need for safety.. kids more than anyone. A very important story to tell, imo.

I like your stories from your past as well as the wonderful ones you tell for others. My memories with my sister at Grandma's were a little different, though they did involve a heater. Leslie and I would lie in bed, each of us willing the other to need to make the morning trip to the bathroom more urgently. The first one up shivered in the cold morning air to light the heater. I remember those classic cartoons! We loved those three too. "Oh where, oh where has my Underdog gone?" Wonderful poses and expressions! I love the connections between you. You are both fixed to the TV screen, but connected by touch and by your mutual enjoyment. It is a simple and beautiful memory, captured wonderfully. These are the ones that stay and warm our souls. Excellent image and dedication!

Fantastica immagine che rievoca tempi e ricordi lontani , quando non eravamo completamente travolti dall'elettronica e bastava il calore di una stufa , la compagnia di persone care eun buon vecchio cartone animato per essere o felici.Riconosco Lior nelle tue parole : grande persona e grande artista ! Ci sono persone veramente squisite nel sito! Fantastic image that evokes the times and distant memories, when we were completely overwhelmed by the electronics and the heat was enough of a stove, the company of loved ones anda good old cartoon or felici.Riconosco Lior be in your words: great person and great artist! There are people who are truly exquisite site!
