Description
Taken out west at a waterway, it's the dry season here and I just love all the different varities and colours of the grasses here...If you camp here and it starts to rain, you have to leave immediately as it floods very quickly from all the water coming in from the surrounding ranges.

it is a beautiful place and capture.there are so many places like that in New mexico and Arizona.dry as a bone one moment and then a roaring river

One lonely little water bird, where are all his friends. Many areas around here are dry as well. The bushes on the hill make a lovely backdrop here.

It sure looks like a pelican to me. Great shot Sue, I used to watch the 'Bush Tucker Man' on Sky digital and he showed quite a few places like this, one minute he was walking along, then he's rowing a boat. When I first saw this programme with him out in the wilderness, I wondered why he had a boat on the roof of his landrover. I wish I had emigrated to Australia when I had the chance, I would love to explore it. Interesting capture and information, I see 'red' rocks here as well as stone, have these been washed down? or are they natural to the area? Also like the contrasting colours of the grasses. Bravo!!!!!

So is it a pelican? I zoomed in at 200% and it looks like one. I love the way the grasses are so different and present such wonderful textures and colors. And the contrast with the water, another fabulous photo!
