Description

The statues along the flanks of Charles Bridge are impressive...HUGE...and mostly reproductions. The originals are in museums scattered around Prague. No matter, the statues that you see on the bridge are impressive, lovingly maintained, and voraciously photographed. I'd been avoiding such pictures, as they'd be filled with the backs of people's heads, or people's faces in all manner of contortions--usually from being captured in the middle of saying something. At any rate, during my return here to Prague, I'd decided to take at least ONE statue picture, and it was all because of the lone gull, perched serenely on the head of Jesus Christ. The gull had just eaten something rather tasty, using the crown of Christ's head as a convenient dining table...or whatever the gull-ish equivalent would be. It then proceeded to preen, clean its beak, and then survey the river, while I shouldered past a few tourists, desperate to catch this shot. As always, thank you for viewing and commenting, reading and enjoying.

Beautiful composition...the dark silhouette of the statue really draws attention to the gull sitting atop.

So he is good for something... Sorry, that's what popped into my mind first. Very good shot! Congratulations on the opportunity to take it and on the take itself.

Perfect, just adds so much whimsy and humor to what otherwise would've been the classic "picture of a statue" shot!!

Since I got a feeling Jesus liked birds, I'm sure he'd be ok with this. :-) Fantastic shot.
