Description

This lighthouse looks like a baby, but it sits on a bluff 200 ft (60m) above the ocean, so it doesn't need to be very tall. This one is just west of Tillamook on the north-central Oregon coast. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

Wonderful capture! The lenses are called fresnel lenses. I love the seashore, and the lighthouses always capture the fancy of tallships, and the history of the coasts of America. Awesome. Totally awesome.

I thought it did seem rather short for a lighthouse but I can now understand why height wasn't an issue.

They don't need to be tall themselves, just have elevation above sea level. Nice capture of a unique lighthouse! Very cool. (I remember when you could go to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and it was just two rooms - one to look through the window at the vats, and one to buy the four different kinds of cheese they made.)

I did wonder why it was so small. Never seen a cute lighthouse before.
