Description

This is my attempt at a holiday image and a tribute to my good friend Paul or better known as (PJLawson) Paul is someone I'm so glad to have met because of his kindness and his ability to make me laugh. His attention to detail is amazing and I was instantly hooked on his Have To Please The Characters series the moment I saw it. FernElla & PJ have brought me hours of adventure and smiles so I wanted to return the favor to them and their amazing creator with this true story from my past. Silent Night - Scary Night: Before I begin let me take you back one year before. While on a downtown shopping spree for Mego Action Figures my Mom apparently lost her mind for a moment and reached down and hoisted me up onto the lap of a rather loud and annoying total stranger all dressed in red. My memory is clear of seeing the tears stream down Veronica's face as she screamed out MOMMA NO ! This set off what we refer to to this day as The Episode, where I put up a valiant struggle kicking and screaming until that horrifying stranger let me go. We return to present day now and our parents have dropped us off at our Grandparents once more except this time even our older sister Donetta was forced to come despite her please to not. Grandma was late getting home from her job at the garment factory and poor Grandpa who apparently didn't know about the episode a year ago had a surprise for us. He slipped off into the back room and much to our shock out came that horrible man in red, this time right in our grandparents home. Veronica and I stood frozen in fear until he picked up a present and then grabbed Veronica. Apparently he had learned his lesson about trying to abduct me from the year before and has set his sights on Veronica. As you can imagine this was all it took for all hell to break loose as Veronica screamed out (Help, he's got me) and I pulled trying to save her yelling for him to let go. All this time our older sister Donetta who was always embarrassed to be around us anyway stood back staring upon this scene in disgust and rolling her eyes. The good news is Veronica and I were able to break free of this Christmas terror and flee to our bedroom and hide under the bed. This also signaled the end of Santa for us as our sister Donetta came into the bedroom carrying Santa's cap and told us. (Hey you two morons it's only Grandpa dressed up as Santa) LOL Okay if you were brave enough to make it through my Christmas tale I congratulate you, it not I can't say as I blame you really but I at least hope you got a smile. Thanks again Paul for your friendship. And to all my friends here at R'osity thanks for all you've done for Veronica and myself. Hugs to all, Dave Credits will come later as I am posting this early before work.

Oh Dave... this is so wonderful!!! Thank you so much!!! I have tears of laughter at the story and you image depicts the horror you two faced perfectly! Sorry I'm so late seeing this. My son, Tim was hit while driving last night by another driver running a red light. Tim's car was totalled but the only bruises he received were burns on his arms from the airbag. Thank God for airbags! Today was quite hectic and I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. Thank you so much my friend and I wish you and your family a safe & Merry Christmas!!! :)

ah! the horrible man in red! I was deathly afraid of Santa when I was a kid... ok, I admit it... I think I still am! my little girl was not. when she was 3 years old she ran up to Santa and showed him the new necklace she was wearing. when he asked her what she wanted for Christmas she said, "anything you want to bring me." it's funny how different children handle things. this is a wonderful image, the poses and the expressions are perfect! anyone who has ever been frightened of Santa will relate to this!

Wonderful story and scene! When I was little, there was a store Santa that smelled like booze, LOL! I did not know why he smelled funny. My mother noticed it. I suppose he had to get drunk to stand us kids.

What an amazing except from your childhood. Sorry you were so traumatized by the experience. I love the look of sher terror in your sisters eyes, not so making merry that year. I never had a problem with Santa myself, but a developed a phobia towards eating turkey early on - I"m talking high chair days. Guess I must have had a piece of something I took for turkey which I really hated. From that time on I refused to eat turkey at Christmas - or any other time. No matter, my mother bought 'giant chicken' instead. That little fib lasted until I was nearly 12 years old. Merry Christmas!

What happened to you and Veronica is the common lot of thousands of children scared by the figure of Santa! You made it plain once and for all and it's so funny to relate once being an adult, but the trauma fortunately doesn't remain that long in children's minds! A very nice composition , Dave !
