Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us.  Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!Â

Gorgeous Winter image!

Very topical in England - the weather forecast/doom merchants say we are about to experience the coldest January for 20 years and one of he 4 or 5 coldest in the last century! So thanks for previewing what we are about to experience!

Daily prickles...liberal coating...? LOL! My, aren't we getting to be the ode master! Shakespeare better watch his back! Just kidding; really lovely narrative, Jodie. Superlative effects in this capture of the snow-laden pine tree branches, young lady! Looks like frosting left over from an overzealous cake decorator. And, have yourself one whale of a Happy New Year!

I love the draped feeling in the branches. A comfortable and content mood. The background is well done as well.

as I try to catch up on your gallery, sometimes I just take one at random, and I'm never ever disappointed: What touched me about this, immediately, was the almost-silver background you captured/textured, like this were a print made on silver-leaf (like the great Japanese prints which used silver & gold so eloquently): The grays seem almost modeled (like silver-leaf shadows) and make the branches seem like one of those Oriental eaves that 'bow' into their paintings more than fall, and sit before us like an offering. But then the branches poke through the snow like the lines of a Bach fugue---I mean they're articulate---and, because you let the snow remain cottony, the branches & needles speak without impediment. A gentle New Year's wish & another of your delicate poems to winter (I know, another winter poem!), and as if you took this branch, placed it on a platter-of-platinum, and offered it to the world as a quiet, intimate gift. It's beautiful...
