Description

These doves feed from seed beneath the deck we call a front porch. Step out there and have 15 or more explode in flight and it scares you socks off. I believe one sock is still out there. : ) Mourning Doves it is said get the name from the plaintive coo sounds of their call. These doves make a squeek sound from their wings when flying away. These are puffed up for a cold first day of 2008. DOF was a little less than one foot for this shot, with focus dropping off beyond the foreground dove.

Awe they are sooo cute! I have massive flocks of them visit my feeders and pond and know exactly what you are talking about when you said they scare your socks off! Lovely shot!
